Simp by Theo Thimo
Literature Reviews
Theo Thimo tries to capture the chaos of our here and now, doing so in a chaotic cascade of random asides with surprisingly piercing insight. Madness dominates, but then our world is ultimately mad, so he’s simply being honest. No other writer is willing to tell you the truth in exactly the way that Theo Thimo does.
Characters dart in and out of Theo’s life. You may say that is unreasonable, but you live online. What could you possibly know about the real world? Theo tells it to you straight – no chaser. Substances are consumed. Elixirs mixed. He stumbles about aimlessly throughout the world, much like you do on a regular Tuesday.
Global events eventually filter into Theo’s world. He employs a delay, which you ought to consider. You need to consider your presentation, something that might impress many folks on all those dating apps you abuse for Twitter material. Unlike cruel folks, Theo shows sympathy to all those he messages, whether they message back. Some of the messages go into that ignored digital ether, lost forever, a pining desire left unfilled.
He is a meticulous documenter of his own life, this fantastic Theo of ours, and the fact that he remembers so much is doubly impressive. In an era of short attention spans, he manages to focus on the self with stunning clarity, no lies detected. Nothing is given an optimistic glow, which makes sense given his Albanian heritage. For those of you unaware, Eastern Europe is not a place where happy people are raised. There is a morbid humor that resides there, lands where Depeche Mode is far more popular than the Beatles. In short, a good place that is honest with its citizenry and does not pretend to be for liberty, it acknowledges the bleakness and pokes fun at it. I appreciate this level of frankness, and you should too.
You are along for the ride as Theo traverses the United States. Places bleed into each other. Dallas becomes New York City becomes Los Angeles. Purchases occur. Random characters filter in and out of the narrative as needed, because these are cities filled with extras and NPCs. Theo eats. He consumes lots of substances to psycho-actively mess with his perception of reality, because, as that famous movie clip once conveyed to all of us, FUCK REALITY.
Simp fucks with reality and gets fucked by it, as Theo Thimo is wont to do.
